It’s quite a lengthy article, and the website isn’t too pretty, but I highly recommend that you read this article on Spiritual Abuse.
Many people who left Gracepoint/Berkland have struggled with how to make sense of everything. They could not label Gracepoint or Berkland as quite a CULT, but they still knew there was something wrong. Not being able to pin it down to something specific may have been a very frustrating experience to many people. I believe it’s led many to not want to think about church or God at all, and even sadly leaving the faith altogether.
There is actually a name for what’s going on in those churches, and it’s called Spiritual Abuse. There are books written on this subject. For those of you not familiar with this term, please don’t scoff at it as just another label given to some unimportant issue in our very PC society. It’s very real and very serious. There are known traits of abusers, and symptoms for victims.
Again, I encourage you to read the article.
I will be taking bits from their list of “Signs of Spiritual Abuse” and exposing its reality at Gracepoint Fellowship Church.

This website has full text of the books “Churches that Abuse” as well as “Recovering from Churches that Abuse.” I found it interesting.
Thank you so much!
